The Fighting Stallion (1950)
Lon Evans, a WW II Veteran returns to his Wyoming home. After the terrible news comes that his eyes are deteriorating and that he will go blind.
When he returns home, he finds his father has caught a white stallion that is untameable. He names the horse Starlight and trains him to be his eyes for when he does lose his sight.

Starlight, I am unsure who the horses are that played him. I believe that at least one or two of the horses might be actual appaloosas, however, in some scenes, it looks like the spots on his face and hindquarters are dye jobs.
